The Indian Premier League 2025 is in its business end as we have got our top-4 teams who will contest for the trophy.

Punjab Kings secured the top position, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru finished second and will meet in Qualifier 1. Third-placed Gujarat Titans will take fourth Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator.

Notably, the playoff games that were supposed to be played in Kolkata were shifted to the new venues to avoid washouts.

What happens if the IPL playoff matches are abandoned due to rain?

In the cases of matches getting interrupted due to rain, to avoid washouts with no results, both teams must play five overs each to determine a winner on the basis of the Duckworth-Lewis calculations.

However, if each side does not face at least five overs each, the team finishing ahead in the points table after the league phase would go ahead in the tournament.

Example: If Qualifier 1 is washed out — PBKS would go through to the final while RCB will have to play Qualifier 2.
