Spain return to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying this month with two key games, starting at home to Georgia on October 11.

Luis de la Fuente's defending European champions kicked off their campaign in style with respective 3-0 and 6-0 wins in Bulgaria and Turkey in September.

That fired a reminder to Europe, and the wider football world, of Spain's potency as they aim to wrap up a place at the tournament next summer.

A win over Georgia and victory at home to Bulgaria three days later will seal Spain's place in North America with two qualifiers to spare in November.

Georgia and Turkey are set to battle for second place in Group E, with the former picking up three points from their two outings in September.

Spain's build-up to the October games has been heavily impacted by two major injury withdrawals.

Barcelona talisman Lamine Yamal and midfield metronome Rodri have both been removed from De la Fuente's plans following injuries in their final club matches before the break.

Hansi Flick critcised Spain's handling of Lamine Yamal in September, as he returned to Barcelona injured, and his absence will cause more controversy this time around.

Fellow Barcelona stars Gavi and Fermin Lopez are also missing through injury, with Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal not risked.
