Kostas Tsimikas is on the brink of ending his five-year stay at Liverpool with talks between the Premier League champions and AS Roma progressing toward a loan deal.
The 29-year-old left-back has struggled for minutes under new manager Arne Slot, falling behind summer signing Milos Kerkez and long-time starter Andy Robertson.
Liverpool had initially preferred a permanent exit but with the transfer window closing on Monday [September 1], the club has opened the door to a loan.
According to Fabrizio Romano on August 28: “The agreement for Kostas Tsimikas to AS Roma is now getting closer.
Loan move until June 2026 with salary covered, Tsimikas said yes to the move days ago and pushing for it to happen.
Deal seen as close with #LFC as Salah-Eddine leaves soon.”

The impending deal follows his omission from the squad in Liverpool’s win over Newcastle United.
He has made 115 appearances since joining from Olympiacos in 2020, providing 18 assists, but has mostly served as backup to Robertson.
The Greek international signed a new contract in 2023 running until 2027, yet Kerkez’s arrival from Bournemouth has now pushed him further down the order.
AS Roma step in as Liverpool rejig their squad
Reportedly, for the Greek star, the search for regular minutes has been a priority especially at a club competing in European football.
Roma, who have already been active late in the window, view him as a solution for depth and experience on the left side.

The Reds have had one of their busiest summers in years, bringing in Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike and goalkeepers Freddie Woodman and Armin Pecsi.
At the same time, The Reds have made some high-profile sales with Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher among the departures.
