The Sri Lankan Cricket team has been imposed with a penalty after their victory against Zimbabwe in the 1st ODI of the 3-match ODI series being played at the Harare Sports Club.

Sri Lanka is currently touring Zimbabwe for a white-ball series, which includes two ODIs, followed by three T20Is, which would help them in their preparations for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the sanctions on Sri Lanka after they were found to be short of their overs after considering time allowances.
Sri Lanka went on to win the game by 7 runs in a thrilling encounter that went down to the wire. Defending 10 off the last over, pacer Dilshan Madhushanka bowled a superb over, conceding just 3 runs and clinching a hat-trick.
Earlier, Sri Lanka posted 298 in their 50 overs, on the back of wonderful half-centuries from Nissanka, Liyanage, and Kamindu Mendis.

Zimbabwe got off to a horrific start, losing 2 wickets in the very first over. They, however, made a strong comeback and were well and truly in the run chase till the very last over.
Ben Curran scored 70, while Sikandar Raza was once again magnificent as he missed his century by just 8 runs and almost took his side home.
The two sides will now lock horns on Sunday, August 31st. Zimbabwe will look to stage a comeback and level the series, while Sri Lanka will look to clinch the series 2-0
