'I don't cheat' - Yuzvendra Chahal breaks silence after Dhanashree Verma allegedly accuses cricketer of cheating in marriage image

India's premier leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, has once again made the headlines and not for cricketing reasons. The Punjab Kings spinner was responding to a viral clip of his ex-wife, Dhanashree Verma, accusing him of cheating.

Dhanashree, a dancer and a content creator, is currently a part of a reality show called "Rise and Fall". It was on the show that she alleged Chahal cheated just two months into their marriage.

The Indian cricketer has now spoken out about the viral video, claiming that he did not cheat. Chahal called all the allegations baseless and false.

How did Yuzvndra Chahal respond to Dhanashree Verma's cheating allegations?

In a recent interaction with the Hindustan Times, Chahal responded to all the allegations that are being put across by his ex-wife on the public portal.

"I am a sportsperson and I do not cheat. Agar koi two months mei hi cheat karta toh itna lamba relationship chalta kya? For me, this chapter is over, done, and dusted. I have moved forward with my life, and everyone else should do, too," he says.

After nearly five years of marriage, Yuzvendra Chahal got separated from his wife Dhanashree Verma as the marriage ended in a divorce earlier this year. The couple met through social media during the 2020 lockdown and got married the same year.

"Hamari shadi 4.5 years thi. Agar two months mei cheat hua hota toh kaun continue karta? Mai pehle bhi bol chuka hun ki mai past se nikal chuka hun. But some people are still stuck there...abhi bhi unka ghar mere naam se chal raha hai, toh they can continue doing that. I am not concerned or affected. And I have a feeling this is the last time I am addressing that chapter of my life," added Chahal.

Chahal last featured for India back in 2023 and hasn't been a part of the side ever since. He was, however, in the Indian squad that lifted the T20 World Cup in 2024, but did not feature in any of the games.

The leg-spinner has been doing the hard yards. He took a hat-trick against the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL earlier this year and has been a regular feature in the domestic sides and even County cricket.

Chahal's focus would now be on having a wonderful domestic season and making a return to the Indian side. He is currently not in the scheme of things for Team India, but consistent performances can surely turn things around for the veteran spinner.
