The young left-arm pacer has now shared a hilarious story about how his enthusiasm for bowling during practice led to a 'WWE-inspired' intervention from the Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel.

Why did Mornel Morkel wrestle Arshdeep Singh during India practice?

In a recent interaction at the Oaktree Sports' Gaurav Kapoor, Arshdeep Singh narrated a funny behind-the-scenes story from the net sessions of the Indian Cricket team.

The pacer elaborated on how the bowling coach often stops him from bowling more to ensure proper workload management.

"I love bowling. When I start, I just keep on bowling. The physios went to Morne and asked him to stop me...Morne asked me not to bowl, but I can't sit idle, and constantly poked him that I wanted to bowl more, to which Morne said, 'Let's make a rule, from now when you're done with your bowling, I'll pin you down. If you can resist, then fine; else, you have to stop bowling more."

Arshdeep's enthusiasm and desire to bowl more are testimony to his love for his art. They also strongly display his tireless work ethic and desire to improve his skills constantly.

The pacer recently became the first Indian bowler in history to complete 100 T20I wickets. He achieved the feat during India's title-winning campaign at the Asia Cup 2025.

What's next for Arshdeep Singh?

The pacer from Punjab continues to be integral to India's T20I setup. His next big assignment is India's T20I series against Australia, which starts on October 29.

With a home T20 World Cup coming up in 2026, Arshdeep's focus would be on further sharpening his skills and delivering match-winning spells when the Men In Blue take to the field to defend their title.
