For Sanju Samson, cricket may be his career, but football has always been close to his heart. Growing up in Kerala, a place where football is almost a way of life, Samson’s love for the game began long before he became India’s star wicket-keeper.
He recently shared how the sport runs in his family and even revealed which Premier League club he proudly supports.

Why does Sanju Samson have such a strong bond with football?
Football holds a special place in Samson’s life. Coming from Kerala, where both football and cricket share massive fan bases, he was surrounded by the sport since childhood.
Even now, before most cricket matches, he and his teammates play football as part of their warm-up routine. His father was also a football player, and that connection naturally drew him to the game.
"I think, as Indian cricketers, we are used to playing football just before the start of the game. Another reason is that I come from Kerala, where both cricket and football are very popular. My father is a footballer, so I naturally connected with the sport from a young age," said Samson, while speaking to PTI.

Which Premier League club does Sanju Samson support?
Samson didn’t hesitate when asked about his favourite football team- it’s Liverpool. The wicket-keeper loves the energy and attitude that the English club brings to the field.
"My favourite team is Liverpool. I think I love the way they play. I love the way they carry themselves on and off the field. So I really connect with them," he added.
