India are currently taking on England in the second Test of the five-match Test series at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium.

India won the toss and elected to bat first, registering 396 runs on the board in the 1st innings thanks to a splendid double century from Yashasvi Jaiswal.

In reply, England were skittled out for 253 runs, with India earning a crucial 143-run lead. The hosts then added another 255 runs in their 2nd innings, setting Ben Stokes and Co. a target of 399.

In India, never ever has a 4th innings score of 399 been registered in Test cricket history, which means that the visitors would be making history should they complete a successful run chase to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

What is the highest successful run chase in Visakhapatnam in Tests?

So far, only two Tests have taken place in Vizag if you exclude the ongoing Test match between India and England.

The first-ever Test match at this venue was played between India and England in November 2016.

In that game, England needed 405 runs to win, but were bundled out for just 158 runs as India registered a 246-run win.

The second Test in Vizag was played between India and South Africa in October 2019, with India winning the game by 203 runs after setting the Proteas a target of 395 runs.

Long story short, no team has ever managed to complete a successful run chase in Visakhapatnam.

History beckons with England 332 runs away from achieving the improbable at the close of play on Day 3 (February 4).
