What will be India’s ODI squad for Australia tour?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will name the ODI team on Saturday. Rohit and Kohli, who last played for India in the Champions Trophy earlier this year, will be back.

After retiring from T20Is and Tests, the two legends are focusing only on ODIs now. Their return will boost India’s batting line-up for the three-match ODI series in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney starting October 19.

The selectors are likely to stick with the Champions Trophy-winning squad. That means Shreyas Iyer, India’s highest run-scorer in that tournament, should keep his place. Sanju Samson is likely to be the backup Wicket keeper batter in the ODI series.

Youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Iyer are also in the mix for the T20I side, with discussions still ongoing.

Will Rohit Sharma continue as ODI captain?

The biggest talking point is captaincy. Rohit Sharma has led India to several big wins, but the selectors are set to speak directly with him about the ODI role. A decision is expected before the final announcement.

Meanwhile, the T20I squad will also be declared along with the ODI team. Rising players such as Abhishek Sharma, who is in outstanding T20 form, could get a chance in the 50 over format.

India’s full tour schedule in Australia

India will begin with three ODIs- Perth (October 19), Adelaide (October 23), and Sydney (October 25).

After that, the action shifts to T20Is with five games across different venues. The five-match T20I series begins on October 29 and runs until November 8.
