Abhishek has now shared a light-hearted memory related to Gill from their younger days, which has gone viral on the internet.

Shubman Gill used to get away with a lot of mischief

In a recent Breakfast with Champions podcast at Oaktree Sports, Abhishek Sharma highlighted the mischievous side of the India Test skipper, Shubman Gill. The Indian opener shares how Gill never used to escape punishment in his younger days.

"There is only one person who has never been caught doing mischief during the age group, and that is Shubman Gill," said Abhishek.

Gill and Abhishek are currently opening the batting for India in the shortest format. The destructive duo helped India clinch the Asia Cup title, providing the side with some amazing starts in the power play.

Abhishek further shared a hilarious incident from their U16 days, when Gill was one of the naughtiest in the group, but never got punished.

"We were in Dharamshala during our U16 days...We got into an argument with the driver over playing songs, and the one who was shouting the loudest from the back was Shubman...The matter reached the coaches...There were 4-5 kids, but the driver denied Gill's involvement."

How is Shubman Gill different from a typical Punjabi?

The duo of Gill and Abhishek has shared a wonderful bond since childhood. From sharing the dressing room during the U16 days for Punjab to opening the batting for India, the Punjabi boys have come a long way.

The left-hander also shed light on a unique talent that the Indian Test skipper possesses. "He has a talent that he could change his expressions. If everyone is laughing, he can suddenly get serious. No Punjabi person has this quality," added Abhishek

Their next assignment together is the big tour to Australia. India will play a total of 3 T20Is, which will be integral for preparing for the T20 World Cup in 2026.
