Shakib Al Hasan's international career over? Bangladesh government official confirms stance on all-rounder's future with national team image

Legendary Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan might have already played his final international match for the national team, as he won't be allowed to represent his country anymore.

Shakib, who has worn the national team jerseys in all three formats for 18 years, last played an international match in 2024.

However, now, in a shocking revelation, Bangladesh's Youth and Sports Advisor, Asif Mahmud has claimed that the 38-year-old will not be allowed to represent his nation in future, over a political row.

Is Shakib Al Hasan's international career over?

Shakib, who served as a Member of Parliament as part of the former party in power in the nation, Awami League, recently shared a photograph of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina to wish her on her birthday.

The social post sparked controversy and later, Asif told Channel24: "We cannot let him carry the Bangladesh flag. It won’t be possible for me to allow him to wear the Bangladesh jersey. Maybe I haven’t told the BCB before, but now my clear direction to the BCB would be that Shakib Al Hasan can never again play for Bangladesh."
