India's star wicketkeeper batter and Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant suffered a painful fracture on his toe during the first day's play of the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in Manchester.
While batting against English fast bowlerChris Woakes, Pant attempted a reverse lap shot, but the ball hit the inside edge of his bat and crashed straight into his foot, resulting in a nasty injury.
The southpaw was ruled out of the rest of the series but still came in to bat and added 17 runs on Day 2 of the match, to help India reach 358 runs in the first innings.

Since the England tour, Pant continues to work on his recovery and has regularly provided an update on his condition for his fans on social media.
However, Pant's latest update, which he shared on Instagram on Sunday, August 31, was a bit depressing as he seemed to be growing frustrated with the long recovery process.

What next for Rishabh Pant?
Pant understandably is not part of the India T20 squad for the upcoming Asia Cup in UAE, which starts on September 9. He is expected to be ready and regain full fitness ahead of the West Indies' two-match Test tour of India from October 2.
