Why does Suryakumar Yadav listen to Hanuman Chalisa every day?

Suryakumar said that the habit came from his mother, who has always been a deeply spiritual person. She was the one who made him understand the importance of Hanuman Chalisa and how it helps a person stay strong and positive.

He shared that he listens to the Hanuman Chalisa every morning after his shower usually for ten to fifteen minutes. If he doesn’t get time in the morning, he even plays it in his car while driving to practice or matches.

"I love to hear it every morning after the shower - 10 or 15 minutes I am with myself, it calms me down. If I am in a rush, I put it in my career. My mother is very religious and she says that Hanuman ji needed to remind himself of his strength so if you listen to it, you will also be reminded of what you can do. So on game day I keep listening to it and I feel relaxed. It’s become a routine," said Suryakumar.

For him, it has become more than just a prayer, it is a way to remind himself that he has the power and focus to handle anything that comes his way.

This calm energy is one reason why Surya remains composed even in tough match situations. From hitting his first ball for six in international cricket to captaining India in major tournaments, his mindset has always reflected confidence.

What is next for Suryakumar Yadav and Team India?

After leading India to the Asia Cup 2025 title recently, Suryakumar is now set to captain the side in the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia. The white-ball tour begins on October 19 with a three-match ODI series, followed by the T20Is.
