After India's 52-run win in the 2025 Women's World Cup final at the DY Patil Stadium, Rodrigues posted a video on Instagram addressing Gavaskar's earlier remark about a potential jam session.

In her message, the 25-year-old said she was "ready with my guitar" and hoped the former India captain was "ready with your mic."

"Hi Sunil Gavaskar, sir. I saw your message and you said that if India wins the World Cup, we will sing a song together. I am ready with my guitar, hope you are ready with your mic. Lots of love, sir, thank you for everything," Jemimah said.

Gavaskar's offer before the final

A day before the final, Gavaskar had told Sports Today that he would love to sing along with Rodrigues if India lifted the trophy — a callback to their impromptu duet during the BCCI Awards in 2024.

"If India win the World Cup, she and I, if she is okay with it, will sing a song together. She will have her guitar, and I will sing along. We actually did that once at a BCCI event. I would love to do it again — if she is happy to do that with an old man, I am all for it," Gavaskar said.

The post-win exchange between Gavaskar and Rodrigues has added a joyful, human touch to India's greatest moment in women's cricket — one that fans hope will lead to a real duet soon.
