Why is Ravindra Jadeja named India's vice-captain?
The world's No. 1 all-rounder, and the veteran Ravindra Jadeja, have been named as the vice-captain of India for the upcoming Test series against the West Indies.
India's designated vice-captain for the last Test tour against England was Rishabh Pant. Pant suffered an injury during the fourth Test at Manchester and is still recovering, which has ruled him out of the West Indies series.
"Rishabh Pant is the vice captain and has not recovered to make it to the WI Test series. We expected him to be available for South Africa. Jadeja has been one of our top performers with experience," Agarkar said in the press conference.
