It’s a proud moment for Virender Sehwag and his Sehwag International School. Rahul Soreng has earned his place in the Haryana Under-19 cricket team.

Rahul’s journey began in 2019 when Sehwag offered free education to children of soldiers who lost their lives in the Pulwama attack.

Among those children was Rahul, who joined Sehwag International School the same year. Since then, Sehwag has been like a mentor and helped the youngster grow both in life and in cricket.

Who is Rahul Soreng and how did Virender Sehwag support him?

Rahul Soreng is the son of late Head Constable Vijay Soreng, one of the brave CRPF soldiers who lost their lives in the 2019 Pulwama attack

After the Pulwama tragedy, where Head Constable Vijay Soreng was among the 40 CRPF soldiers who lost their lives, Sehwag decided to open the doors of his school for the children of the martyrs.

Sehwag took a personal interest in Rahul’s progress and offered him a place to study, train, and dream again. Over the years, he often expressed pride in Rahul’s achievements, calling it an honour to be part of his journey.

When Rahul made it to the Haryana U19 team, Sehwag posted a heartfelt note on social media, saying he felt privileged to have supported him since his father’s sacrifice.

How has Rahul performed in his cricket journey so far?

Rahul’s cricket journey has been full of steady progress. Before this U19 call-up, he represented Haryana in both the Under-14 and Under-16 levels.

In the Vijay Merchant Trophy, he played for the U16 team and gained valuable experience at the state level.

Earlier this year, he was also selected for the Jhajjar District U19 team and performed impressively in inter-district matches.
