‘Nobody is a favourite in T20s’ - Pakistan’s Agha Salman dismisses India Asia Cup favourite tag image

As the Asia Cup 2025 commences, the No.1 T20I-ranked team, India is believed to be the firm favorite to clinch the title this year. India has been one of the most dominating T20I sides in the past few years. They are also the reigning world T20 World Champions.

Pakistan skipper Salman Agha, however, believes that there is no such thing as favorites in the shortest format of the game.

India is entering the Asia Cup as the strongest side, with experts and fans expecting the team to clinch the title for the record 9th time.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led side is a complete blend of youth and experience and has some fierce strikers of the ball, as well as star pacer bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah.

In a press conference ahead of the marquee continental event, the Pakistan skipper emphasized the unpredictable nature of T20 cricket as he dismissed the favorites tag from India.

On being asked whether India is the favorite to lift the title, Agha replied, "In T20s, nobody is a favorite'

India has always been the most dominant side, especially when it comes to Asia. The side has already clinched a record eight Asia Cup titles and will feel very confident to add on to their glory. 

When is the India vs Pakistan clash?

The arch-rivals India and Pakistan are all set to face each other once again in the T20I format after the 2024 T20 World Cup. India defeated the Men in Green when the two sides clashed previously in New York.

The two sides will lock horns on Sept. 14 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in a league game and can eventually end up playing each other three times throughout the tournament, if they reach the finals.
