MS Dhoni IPL team, stats, history, schedule: Has Dhoni ever won the Indian Premier League? image

At 41 years old, MS Dhoni is a revered veteran of world cricket with a spectacular record since making his debut at 18 during the 1999/2000 season.

Dhoni is the only international captain to have won the World T20 (in 2007), the 50-over Cricket World Cup (2011) and the Champions Trophy (2013).

During his time as captain of Indian Premier League (IPL) team the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Dhoni has won four crowns, the Champions League T20 in 2011 and 2014, reached nine finals and made the playoffs in all but one season.

Who does Dhoni currently play for? Who has he played for previously, and when is he likely to be playing in 2023? The Sporting News takes a look at some of his stats.

CSK opted in November 2021 to retain Dhoni for a further three seasons, committing him to the team he has been with for all but one campaign since 2008.

Ravindra Jadeja briefly replaced him as captain at the start of IPL 2022 before Dhoni was reinstated because of CSK's poor run of form.

MS Dhoni IPL stats

Between 2004 and 2019, Dhoni scored more than 17,000 runs across three formats and became known as one of the shrewdest and most resilient captains of all time. Here's Dhoni's overall record.

CSK 2023 IPL squad

The most notable absentee from the Super Kings squad for 2023 is West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. The IPL's all-time leading wicket-taker retired after last season. He will start a new role as CSK bowling coach.

Jadeja is still around in a playing capacity despite a tumultuous 2022 and is likely to remain vital for Fleming's side.
