The Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore will enter into another Indian Premier League (IPL) season, aiming to win their maiden trophy.
Like the rest of the teams, RCB too have announced the list of their released and retained players ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. The IPL auction will be held in Dubai on Tuesday, December 19.
The most surprising, amongst the players they have released, is Wanindu Hasaranga. The all-rounder was purchased for INR 10.75 crore in the IPL 2022 auction and took 26 wickets in his debut season. However, the leg-spinner failed to replicate such a performance in the following edition of the tournament, bagging a mere nine wickets.
The other players in their released list are all-rounder Harshal Patel, who was the purple cap winner in IPL 2021, Josh Hazlewood, Anuj Rawat and Siddharth Kaul.
Notably, the Bangalore-based franchise had also traded Shahbaz Ahmed to Sunrisers Hyderabad, roping in Mayank Dagar in his place.
