The Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai was already filled with high tension, but a new chapter was added before the game even began.
Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha posed alone with the trophy after India captain Suryakumar Yadav chose not to attend the traditional photoshoot.

The moment quickly became a talking point and showed again how the rivalry between the two nations has gone beyond just the cricket field.
Why did Salman Agha stand alone with the trophy?
Just minutes before the toss, the cameras captured Salman Ali Agha posing solo with the trophy, a sight unusual for a major final.
Typically, both captains join the frame, but Surya’s absence meant the Pakistan leader had to stand alone.

This incident came only a day after Salman voiced his disappointment over the repeated handshake snubs from the Indian skipper.

This was not the first time Surya stayed away from the usual pre-match gestures. In fact, throughout the Asia Cup 2025, he has refrained from handshakes with Salman Ali Agha.
The pattern started during the group-stage meeting, the first clash between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack and the tensions that followed.
Not only Surya, but the whole Indian team skipped post-match handshakes in that game after beating Pakistan by seven wickets.
