India's star opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal started off the much-anticipated five-match Test series against England in some style at Headingley as he got another away Test century under his belt, this time in the English conditions.
Previously, the southpaw had also scored a century in his first match in the Caribbean and Australia tours while also piling up over 700 runs against England in their tour of India in 2024.

However, this century against England on the first day of the tour did not come as a surprise for many as he has shown his temperament and technique to do well across conditions in his young Test career.
He was also rewarded the Steve Smith award for the most predictable century. Check out the details below.

When asked to name the winner of The Steve Smith Award for the most predictable hundred in the first Test, ESPNcricinfo's Matt Roller replied with Yashasvi Jaiswal's name while talking about the innings that the Indian played.
"He scored 712 runs, I think in 9 innings, England about 18 months ago, and he has scored 813 in 10 innings against them. He was always going to come out here and play the way he did. Scored so many runs through the off-side — it was an absolute masterclass in cover driving and cutting," said Roller.

"Particularly, the six that he hit towards the western terrace — pretty outrageous stuff. He just looks like such a good player. He has now scored a hundred in his first away Test in the Caribbean, Australia and England. Unbelievable," he concluded.
Jaiswal, in sarcasm, was also called as more watchable than Steve Smith in the video by Vithushan Ehantharajah. Check out below.
