Glenn Maxwell availability for India T20I series: Injury update as Australia allrounder set for quick return from wrist fracture image

Australia's premier all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is optimistic about his return for the T20I series against India. Maxwell underwent surgery on his right fractured wrist last week and was previously said to be ruled out for the entire tour.

India will travel to Australia for a white-ball series involving 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. While the all-rounder is all but out of the ODI leg, he might play some part during the T20Is.

Will Maxwell be back for Australia vs India T20Is?

Maxwell suffered a wrist fracture in the lead-up to Australia's T20I series against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui. He got hit straight by a shot from Mitchell Owen.

The all-rounder chose to undergo surgery to hasten his recovery and have an outside chance to feature in the T20I series against India.

He is not named in the squad for the first two T20Is set to be played on October 29 and October 31. He is, however, hopeful to be a part of the series from the third game.

"I think having the surgery last week sort of gives me a little bit more hope of playing some part in that India series, if I can get myself right," Maxwell said.

"The only reason I had the surgery was that the options they gave me were to miss that series completely and no surgery, or have surgery and it gives me a slim chance to hopefully play a part. And if not, I'll be ready earlier for the BBL, and I think it leaves me in good standing to get the rest of my body right," he added.
