The edit blended clips of Rohit lifting the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy with Mahesh Babu’s blockbuster film moments.

How did the Mahesh Babu and Rohit Sharma video happen?

The tribute appeared during birthday celebrations for Mahesh Babu in a packed cinema hall.

On the massive screen, a fan-made edit rolled out- showing Mahesh Babu in his signature heroic style, followed by Rohit Sharma leading India on the cricket field.

The clip flashed captions like “Two icons from two different worlds” and “Trendsetters in their fields”, while also showing Sharma lifting the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy.

Fans responded with whistles, confetti, and phone cameras recording every second. The unexpected pairing caught the attention of social media within minutes.

Online comments ranged from admiration to pure excitement. Some called it “the perfect crossover,” while others shared short clips from the theatre showing the loud cheers. 

Why Rohit Sharma in a Tollywood celebration?

Rohit, 38, has been on a break from red-ball cricket after retiring from Tests earlier this year. He was last seen enjoying the fifth Test against England from the stands, cheering Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century.

While the edit was purely fan-driven, the sentiment clicked instantly as one dominates the cricket pitch, the other rules Telugu cinema.

Rohit is set to feature in the three-match ODI series against Australia this October which will start on October 19 in Perth, will then move to October 23 in Adelaide and wrapping up on October 25 in Sydney.
