One of the breakout stars of 2025 Dewald Brevis is often compared to AB de Villiers for their similar and explosive batting styles while also hailing from the same country South Africa.
While Brevis believes he is a completely different batter than the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) legend de Villiers, the Baby AB tag coined by fans remains.

In the recent T20I series against Australia, he top-scored with 180 runs in 3 innings at a strike rate of 204.55. The 22-year-old batter once again publicly stated his admiration for de Villiers while speaking to the man himself.
Dewald Brevis reveals his dream batting partner
During a podcast on de Villiers' YouTube channel (AB de Villiers 360), the Chennai Super Kings star was answering a quick-fire, where he was asked about his dream partner.

"It's definitely you," replied Brevis, as a testament to the stylish batting and the 50+ average in both Tests and ODIs that the former South African skipper boasts.
"Oh, imagine. It would have been fun. Maybe I will play for another 10-20 years. I will wait for you there at the WCL. You come and join me in the old men's league," de Villiers joked.
In his young career, which has been under the scanner right since his U19 World Cup 2022 perfromances where he got 506 runs at an average of 84.33, Brevis has played 10 T20Is and scored 318 runs at a strike rate of almost 191.70, including a century in Australia.
He also recently received his maiden ODI and Test caps, scoring a half-century in his first Test innings.

Ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup in India, Brevis is currently in contention to replace Heinrich Klaasen in the T20I set-up, given their similar hitting prowess in the middle-overs against spin.
