What did David Lloyd say about Duckett?
Lloyd didn’t hold back when describing Duckett’s impact. Writing in his column, he called the 29-year-old "England’s answer to Virender Sehwag"- a huge compliment, considering Sehwag’s legendary status in world cricket.
Lloyd was particularly impressed with Duckett’s comfort playing the reverse sweep, which he compared to a hockey shot.
“Ben Duckett has come a long way since he poured a drink over Jimmy Anderson on an Ashes tour. He is now England’s answer to Virender Sehwag and opening the batting in your World XI," Lloyd wrote in his column

"The reverse sweep is such a natural shot for him. He plays it for fun. It’s no surprise to learn he was a good hockey player at school because it’s like a hockey shot,” he added.
How did Duckett deliver in the first Test?
England had to chase a daunting target of 371 in the fourth inning to win the match. It was Ben Duckett at the top who provided the spark. He smashed 149 runs from just 170 deliveries with 21 fours and a six.
His fearless approach gave England the platform they needed in chase of a big total. His 188-run opening partnership with Zak Crawley turned the match on its head.
Duckett’s century came at a crucial time. With India ahead for most of the Test, his knock helped England take full control on the final day. The innings also earned him the Player of the Match award.
