Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has had quite a sensational introduction to international cricket, with the youngster already smashing records less than a year after his debut.

Jaiswal scored a historic double century on February 18, in the 2nd innings of the third Test between India and England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, scoring an unbeaten 214 to help India register their biggest win in Tests in terms of runs

This was his second double century in as many Tests, and a record-breaking one at that (he scored 12 sixes in his innings, joint-most alongside Wasim Akram). India eventually won the game by 434 runs and took a crucial 2-1 lead in the series.

In the fourth Test in Ranchi, Jaiswal scored a brisk 73 before he was bowled by off-spinner Shoaib Bashir. In the second innings, the southpaw managed to score just 37 runs but in the process equalled Virat Kohli's runs tally of 655 runs which he achieved against England in 2016.

Which Indian batsman has scored the most runs in a Test series?

Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar holds the record for the most runs scored by an Indian batsman in a Test series.

Gavaskar scored 774 runs in his debut series during the tour of West Indies in 1970-71, which included 3 fifties and 4 hundreds in 8 innings.

Jaiswal has two innings to score at least 120 runs to become the new record-holder of the most runs scored by an Indian batsman in a Test series.  In the eight innings in this series, Jaiswal has scored 655 runs.

If he scores 320 runs or more, he will officially break Sir Don Bradman's seemingly unattainable record of 974 runs in a Test series.
