The young Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has started his international career in some style. At 25, the batter from Punjab is already the No.1 T20I batter in the world and carries an intimidating factor about himself.

Abhishek has now revealed a passion for Kite flying that he has from his younger days. The young star shared an interesting incident as he mentioned how his passion led him to skip a flight.

Abhishek Sharma has become one of India's biggest match winners in the shortest format, especially for his exceptional six-hitting ability and powerful stroke play.

In his recent conversation at the Breakfast With Champions on Oaktree Sports, the opener from Punjab opened up about his love for the Lohri festival and described his passion for Kite Flying. 

"The only reason I would skip cricket was to fly kites...I am very passionate about flying kites. During the festival of Lohri, I used to be worried that a match would be scheduled on that day. I would always want to be at home during Lohri."

Indian openers' revelation about their love for kites has quickly gone viral on social media. It has further added to growing popularity, showing that behind a fearless cricketer, there is a simple Punjabi boy who finds love and joy in the simple things.

"Last time during Lohri I had an incident...I reached the airport...they had closed the check-in counter. This happened on the day of Lohri...See my dedication, I took a flight from Delhi from a different terminal...landed in Chandigarh, and then I asked my friends to pick me up from Chandigarh airport...We reached Amritsar in 3.5 hours. I reached the terrace of my old house...and we flew kites," Abhishek said as he described his dedication for flying kites.

After his glory at the Indian Premier League, Abhishek Sharma has become a spearhead of India's batting in the shortest format in no time. The young star has scored 849 runs at an average of 37 in his 24 T20Is for India.

He recently led India to the Asia Cup titles, where he was the leading run-scorer and was also awarded the 'player of the series' for his exceptional performances with the bat. 

With a home T20 World Cup fast approaching, Abhishek would be an integral part of the India setup. His next big challenge will be against Australia, starting later this month.
