Abhishek Sharma had a funny and honest reaction when he got to know that Josh Hazlewood would not be playing the remaining T20Is against India.

The young opener seemed genuinely surprised as he wasn’t aware of the update during the post-match press conference.

Hazlewood, who was brilliant in the first game, is now set to shift his focus towards preparations for the upcoming Ashes series starting next month.

Hazlewood was the star of the match in Melbourne, picking up three wickets for just 13 runs. His tight spell left India struggling at 125 in the first innings and helped Australia secure a strong win.

He was later named Player of the Match for his performance before confirming that he would miss the rest of the series to prepare for red-ball cricket.

What did Abhishek Sharma say after hearing about Josh Hazlewood’s absence in the rest of AUS vs IND 2025 T20Is?

During the post-match interaction, Abhishek was asked about Hazlewood missing the rest of the T20I series. The Indian opener looked surprised and said with a smile, “Oh, is he? I didn’t know this.”

He praised Hazlewood for his accuracy and control in the Melbourne game. He said that even though he had watched Hazlewood bowl in ODIs before, the kind of rhythm the pacer showed in the T20I was on another level.

“As a batter, I was watching him even in ODIs, and we knew he would bring challenges. The way he bowled today really surprised me. I haven’t seen this kind of bowling in T20s before,” he added.

Abhishek also mentioned that Hazlewood seemed to have a clear plan and executed it perfectly.

“Even when I was at the other end, I could see how well he was bowling. It felt like he knew exactly what he wanted to do,” the young Indian batter concluded.
