Man United vs. West Ham prediction, lineups, odds & betting tips for Premier League Summer Series encounter image

Manchester United and West Ham are set to kick off their Premier League Summer Series campaigns this weekend with a clash at MetLife Stadium outside New York.

This showdown marks the first of three exhibition matches for each club, with Everton and Bournemouth also in the frame.

The pre-season mini-tournament in the USA will see action move from MetLife, the stage of next summer's World Cup final, to two other major NFL arenas: Chicago's Soldier Field and Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

It will also allow United fans the first chance to get a first look at fresh attacking recruits Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, as new boss Ruben Amorim begins to piece together his revamped frontline.

Man United vs. West Ham Premier League Summer Series prediction

This one feels like a coin toss, with both sides coming off underwhelming campaigns in 2024/25. According to Dafabet, Manchester United are narrow favourites at 1.89, while West Ham sit at 3.99, and the draw is offered at 3.66.

United's pre-season showing against Leeds didn't exactly inspire confidence, they looked short of ideas in the final third, and it's hard to see that being fixed overnight.

The Hammers weren't much better down the stretch last season, especially going forward. All signs point to a tightly contested affair where both may end up cancelling each other out.

Man United vs. West Ham predicted lineups, team news

There is a lot for Amorim to sort out within his squad as Manchester United prepare for 2025-26.

Despite the overwhelming struggles of Rasmus Hojlund at striker, it seems Amorim plans to deploy new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo as dual No. 10s behind either Hojlund or a to-be-determined new arrival up front.

That means Amad Diallo would have to play at wing-back while Bruno Fernandes moves back in midfield alongside either CasemiroManuel Ugarte, or Mason Mount.

They are still missing defender Lisandro Martinez as he recovers from a torn ACL, leaving Mathijs de LigtLuke ShawHarry MaguireAyden Heaven, and Lenny Yoro to battle for the centre-back spots, while Noussair Mazraoui could also factor in.

Altay Bayindir or Tom Heaton are likely to be in goal for this game while Andre Onana recovers from a hamstring injury.

  • Man United predicted lineup (3-4-2-1, right to left): Bayindir (GK) — Yoro, De Ligt, Mazraoui — Amad, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu — Mbeumo, Cunha — Hojlund

Injured: L. Martinez (ACL), Onana (hamstring)

The one major addition for West Ham this summer is left-sided player El Hadji Malick Diouf. They also spent good money to make Jean-Clair Todibo's loan permanent. They sold Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham for a significant fee and will have to replace his production in other ways.

With Diouf's addition, West Ham manager Graham Potter will have options in midfield. Alongside regular starters Edson Alvarez and Lucas Paqueta, there will be a battle between James Ward-ProwseTomas Soucek, and Guido Rodriguez.

  • West Ham predicted lineup (3-5-2, right to left): Fabianski (GK) — Todibo, Mavropanos, Kilman — Wan-Bissaka, Paqueta, Alvarez, Soucek, Diouf — Bowen, Fullkrug.

Injured: None

Man United vs. West Ham Bet Builder tips

Our bet builder for this game is for Draw and Both Teams To Score, available at time of writing at (4.33 with Melbet). You can also add some additional value with Under 2.5 goals (2.10 with Melbet).

With both sides just easing into their pre-season schedules, sharpness is still in short supply. United's opener against Leeds was a bit of a damp squib, offering little to shout about. On the other hand, West Ham got off the mark with a confidence-boosting 3-1 win over Grasshoppers, and while they're still shopping for reinforcements, the squad looks more settled than United's.

That stability gives the Hammers an edge in this early run-out, and with that in mind, we're leaning toward a safer play, backing West Ham or Draw in the Double Chance market (1.83 with Melbet) feels like the smart way to go.

Players to watch: Cunha, Mbeumo out to impress

Matheus Cunha may not have found the net in United's goalless draw with Leeds, but the former Wolves forward certainly caught the eye with a lively performance. At 7/4 to score anytime, he's worth a cheeky flutter if you fancy him to open his Reds account sooner rather than later.

Bryan Mbeumo (2.75 with Dafabet), meanwhile, arrives in red-hot form after a standout 2024/25 campaign with Brentford, where he bagged 20 goals in 38 games, averaging better than one every other match.

While it's unclear if he'll get the nod to start at MetLife Stadium, manager Ruben Amorim will no doubt be eager to unleash his £70 million signing as soon as possible.

As for West Ham, Niclas Fullkrug endured a frustrating, injury-hit debut season, but when fit, the German target man is a real handful.

If he's firing on all cylinders, he could be a major asset for Graham Potter this year, and he's also sitting at 9/4 to find the net in this clash.

Man United vs. West Ham head-to-head

Manchester United hold the upper hand historically in competitive versions of this fixture, boasting 74 victories to West Ham's 51, with 32 games ending all square out of their 157 competitive clashes across all competitions.

In the Premier League era alone, the two have faced off 59 times, with United coming out on top in 34 of those encounters. The Hammers, meanwhile, have only managed 12 league wins over the Red Devils.

That said, it was West Ham who had the last laugh last season, doing the double over United, including a commanding 2-0 triumph at Old Trafford in May.
