A changing of the guard.

Penn State's volleyball team won't get a chance to defend its national championship. On Saturday, Texas eliminated PSU in straight sets in the second round of the NCAA tourney.

The Longhorns won 25-16, 25-9, 25-19.

Torey Stafford led Texas with a dominant day swinging it. She went for 21 kills on.556 hitting.

Abby Vanderwal hit.474 with 10 kills.

Ella Swindle dished out 21 assists.

Ramsey Gary led the way with 12 digs.

Penn State got 16 kills from Kennedy Martin, but on just.225 hitting wasn't enough.

The Nittany Lions weren't favored to repeat, but it's still a big deal that they're out of the tournament.

Powerhouse teams like Pittsburgh and Nebraska will be looking at this result and gaining some confidence from the fact that the defending national champs are no longer in the field.

Someone new will be hoisting the trophy. We'll just have to follow the rest of the tourney to find out who it'll be.
