The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were hoping to get wide receiver Chris Godwin and running back Bucky Irving back in Week 11.
Both players have been dealing with injuries that have kept them out for several games, but Irving (foot/shoulder) and Godwin (fibula) did manage to return to practice this week and participated in all three sessions.
However, they are not quite ready to return yet.
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles revealed on Friday that both Godwin and Irving have been ruled out.
"Chris Godwin and Bucky Irving will not play against the Bills on Sunday," Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com reported.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler had previously reported that the expectation was the Bucs would keep Godwin out until late November, early December, so it would appear Godwin might be ahead of schedule based on his practice participation.
Details surrounding Irving's situation have been more scarce, although we do know that his shoulder issue is what has been keeping him out rather than the toe and Bowles said earlier in the week that Irving won't play until he proves he can withstand taking hits to that area.
The fact that Irving and Godwin were able to practice in any capacity this week suggests both have a good chance to return in Week 12.
We'll know more next week, when the Buccaneers return to the practice field on Wednesday ahead of their Week 12 game against the Los Angeles Rams.
