If we had to pick one play to perfectly describe what's been a challenging season for Jalen Hurts, we'd pick one that happened in the second quarter of Monday's game between Hurts' Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Chargers

Trailing 7-3, the Eagles were just outside of the red zone and seemingly had at least three points assured. But facing a third-and-two, Hurts was intercepted by Da'Shawn Hand. Philadelphia got new life, though, as during the return, Hand fumbled the ball. Hurts was in the right spot and caught the loose ball as it bounced around. That reprieve, however, was short-lived, as Hurts fumbled. The loose ball was then recovered by Los Angeles' Troy Dye, ending the wild play

ESPN's Field Yates detailed how disastrous the play was for anyone with Hurts on their fantasy team.

"The fantasy points on that play: Jalen Hurts loses 2 points for the interception, then loses 2 more points for fumbling the ball after recovering the other fumble on the play. -4 points on one play. Never seen that before," Yates said.

He was not the only person to react to Hurts' wild play.

"2 turnovers on one play by a QB. Jalen Hurts makes more history," someone else observed.

"Is the Eagles season going poorly? Well, Jalen Hurts just had 2 turnovers on one play," noted FS1's Kevin Wildes.

"Jalen Hurts really might’ve just outdone the Mark Sanchez butt fumble for worst play in NFL history," one person said. "A brain dead interception followed up with the Chargers fumbling the return only for Hurts to recover it & fumble it again. Never seen a two TO’s that fast by one player."

"I'm just going to assume Jalen Hurts is the first player to ever throw an interception and lose a fumble on the same play," another fan said.

ESPN Insights confirmed that Hurts is the first player to commit two turnovers on the same play since at least 1978.

Don't count on seeing anything like that again anytime soon.
