Not much has gone right for the New York Jets in 2025.

The team had high hopes after bringing in Justin Fields to be the quarterback and Aaron Glenn to be the head coach, but they sit at 2-9 entering Week 13. Fields was recently benched in favor of veteran journeyman Tyrod Taylor, which doesn't bode well for his long-term future.

As a result, Jacob Infante of PFSN thinks the Jets will take a quarterback at the top of the 2026 NFL Draft. Infante published an updated mock draft that has the Jets taking Oregon quarterback Dante Moore at No. 4.

Regarding the potential Moore pick, Infante offered the following:

As fun as it would’ve been to see work out, Justin Fields isn’t a sustainable long-term option to start at quarterback for the New York Jets. In this 2026 NFL Mock Draft, they draft his successor and find the centerpiece of their rebuild, as emphasized by their decision to trade Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner at the deadline.

A backup to current Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel last year, Dante Moore has really come into his own for Oregon in 2025. He’s a gifted thrower with a loose arm that generates good velocity and can deliver accurate strikes from different angles and platforms. His creativity shines when he has to extend the play out of the pocket, and he’s shown flashes of full-field progressions over the course of the year.

As Infante mentioned, the Jets need to find their passer of the future and Moore has exploded onto the scene in 2025.

In his first season as the starter at Oregon, Moore has played in 11 games and has thrown for 2,447 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. The quarterback has also rushed for 180 yards while completing 72.9% of his passes.

Moore's arm strength and accuracy make him one of the more interesting prospects in the 2026 class. Moore is also fairly athletic, but he prefers to stay in the pocket and deliver stikes down the field.

Taylor is set to be a free agent after the season, while Fields is under contract for one more season. The team would incur a dead cap hit of $22 million if they cut Fields, so they could prefer to keep him around to battle with Ward for the top spot.

In 2025, Fields has thrown for 1,259 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception. The dual-threat passer has also added 383 rushing yards and four scores on the ground. However, the play hasn't translated to wins and the Jets are hoping Taylor provides a spark the rest of the season.

Even if Taylor impresses over this final stretch, he's no long-term solution. The Jets need to get a developmental quarterback for Glenn to coach up, and Moore could be the best option this offseason.
