Former Jets offensive lineman harshly criticizes QB Justin Fields image

It’s been a rough season for New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields, and now some former members of the franchise are chiming in on his performance this season.

On the season, Fields has thrown for seven touchdowns to one interception, but boasts a 38.0 QBR, and has been sacked 27 times. Fields’ completion percentage this season is also just 62.7 percent.

The team’s latest loss to the New England Patriots pushed their record to a pitiful 2-8. In the game, Fields completed 15 of his 26 passes for one touchdown as the Jets’ offense was stuck in the mud throughout the 27-14 loss.

After the game, former Jets offensive lineman, and current SNY analyst Willie Colon provided his own take on Fields’ performance, and it’s what many disappointed Jets fans already believe.

“You don't need to watch anything. Justin Fields is not an NFL quarterback,” Colon said. “Let's just be honest. And you can't sit here and tell your team before games and want them to rally and want them to give you all they've got when you're not giving your team everything they need to be successful. I mean, he shouldn't have played in the second half.”

Fields is now in his fifth season in the NFL, so he’s running out of excuses as to why he hasn’t improved much since debuting in 2021, and now playing for his third team. Firmly out of playoff contention, it remains to be seen if Fields will remain the team’s starter for the rest of the season, or if they’ll give backup Tyrod Taylor a chance.
