The New York Giants saw rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart suffer a concussion in the Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears and that has left his status up in the air for Week 11.
Since then, Dart didn't practice over the first two days of the week, which is a clear sign that he's likely to sit out in Week 11.
However, Dart had one more day to get back on the practice field on Friday. Here's the latest update on his practice participation as we enter the weekend.
Did Jaxson Dart practice Friday?
No, Dart is not practicing on Friday, The New York Post's Ryan Dunleavy reports. Dunleavy adds that Dart is "unlikely to play," as expected.
With Dart likely to sit, the Giants will hand the ball to Jameis Winston on Sunday instead of Russell Wilson.
Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka revealed earlier in the week that Winston is the new backup to Dart and Wilson will serve as QB3 upon the rookie's return.
"I have a lot of confidence in Jameis, have a lot of confidence in Russ, and he'll be the backup as Jaxson works through the concussion protocol," Kafka said. "I think our players are pros. They're pros.
"So, my job is to get them in the best position to be successful and work through the week here and continue to make adjustments with the staff as we're going to continue to prepare for Green Bay, which is the most important thing," Kafka added.
This is the second demotion Wilson has experienced this season and it is the least surprising thing ever.
The veteran signal-caller has been on the decline for years now and he has not looked any different in New York.
Kafka owed it to his players to give Winston a look in order to see if he can provide the kind of upgrade over Wilson we expect he could.
