As we turn the page to Week 15, the status of New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is something to watch.
Kamara has now missed two games in a row due to knee and ankle injuries, and he didn't show any progress last week after not practicing at all.
The Saints are already eliminated, but fantasy football owners have a vested interest in Kamara's status, as his return to the lineup would also impact fellow running back Devin Neal, who is getting increased work with Kamara sidelined.
Here are the latest injury updates on Kamara ahead of Sunday.
Will Alvin Kamara return in Week 15?
We would say Kamara has a better chance to sit out than play.
On Monday, head coach Kellen Moore said "we'll see" when it comes to Kamara's status in Week 15 and labeled him as "questionable."
Kellen Moore said 'we'll see' about possible injury returns for RB Alvin Kamara, RT Taliese Fuaga and S Justin Reid. Moore said all three are in a similar boat, that they'll be questionable but they'll see how they respond to treatment as week progresses etc.," Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football wrote.
The Saints did not place Kamara on injured reserve, which means they believe he can get back within four weeks. But Kamara has only missed two games thus far, so missing a third is definitely on the table.
We'll know more on Wednesday, when the Saints release their first injury report of the week. Any participation from Kamara would be an upgrade and a positive sign for his status.
Devin Neal fantasy advice
In the two games Kamara has missed, Neal has tallied 40 touches and ranks as RB21 overall in that span, making him a solid flex option moving forward.
Neal draws a plus matchup in Week 15 against a Carolina Panthers defense that is ceding the 10th-most fantasy points per game to running backs.
Another positive for Neal is the fact that quarterback Tyler Shough is looking good lately, which will no doubt help his scoring chances and overall production.
If Kamara sits, we're starting Neal in the flex spot this week. However, if Kamara returns, Neal should be kept on the bench.
