The Kansas City Chiefs' offense couldn't find an answer against the Houston Texans' defense on Sunday night.
It may be the defeat that puts the final nail in the coffin of this underwhelming Chiefs season, which now features a 6-7 record with four games to play.
Things may not have gone Kansas City's way this offseason, but the Chiefs aren't doomed. They just need to recognize what didn't work and figure out how to improve it.

ESPN's Ben Solak thinks the offense needs major changes, and at the wide receiver position, he essentially suggests variety.
The Chiefs are lacking size and intermediate-level difference makers at the WR position.
Solak namedrops three WRs and a TE who will be free agents and would be positive additions to next season's Chiefs roster.
"Imagine adding Jauan Jennings in free agency -- a bully of a short-yardage receiver who creates big runs with plus blocking," Solak writes. "Imagine signing Jakobi Meyers, who is proving in Jacksonville what consistent hands in the intermediate areas of the field can do for an offense. Imagine what Mike Evans or even Kyle Pitts Sr. Would do for this team against man coverage. They aren't elite receivers at this point but would restore a sense of wholeness to a receiver room that has been far too focused on one role."

It certainly feels like a much-needed change of pace. The Chiefs' offense has been bad this season.
"The Chiefs' offense is a mess," Solak writes. "It needs revitalizing, both on the depth chart and on the chalkboard. But because they employ Mahomes, they are on the cusp of greatness at any moment. One or two shrewd tweaks and this offense is the best in football in 2026. That's the margin afforded to the team with the best quarterback of his era."
Other fanbases shouldn't write off the Chiefs. If they follow Solak's advice, they may be dangerous all over again in 2026.
