TL;DR

The moniker for Daniel Jones is more fitting today than it's ever been.

Danny Dimes has the Indianapolis Colts off to a 7-1 start to the season entering a key Week 9 clash on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He's carried that nickname basically since joining the NFL with the New York Giants. Despite moving on from the team that initially selected him, the moniker has persisted.

This season, some in Indy have started referring to him as Indiana Jones, which is a neat development.

But Danny Dimes isn't going anywhere, either.

The nickname "Danny Dimes" for Daniel Jones stems from his impressive passing ability, particularly his accurate and often spectacular throws.

Jones' strong preseason performance in 2019 led to the natural emergence of his most recognized nickname, "Danny Dimes,", just before his first NFL season.

For those unfamiliar, "throwing a dime" signifies completing a flawless pass.

"It's all right, I guess," Jones told reporters in 2019. "There could be worse nicknames."

Unfortunately, "Danny Dimes" lacks a remarkable beginning. It truly was just a social media birthing that grew into an easy-on-the-tongue way to refer to Jones.

It features strong alliteration, plus the 'y' ending that somehow makes athlete names stand out more.

Compared to Jones' earlier nicknames, "Danny Dimes" is proving more successful. While attending Charlotte Latin in North Carolina for high school, Jones was recognized as "Swag.". Later, at Duke, he was known as "The Future.".

Jones might be best off sticking with Danny Dimes over those nicknames.
