The most interesting thing about the Indianapolis Colts trade rumors involving Trey Hendrickson is this:

They wanted Hendrickson badly over the summer, before anyone knew the Colts would be this good this season.

Now that Indy is 7-2, it makes even more sense for them to be pursuing the superstar pass rusher from the Cincinnati Bengals.

The NFL trade deadline is at 4 p.m. ET (3 p.m. CT) on Tuesday. Deals have to get done by then, or they can't happen.

That leaves little time left for the Colts to get something over the line for Hendrickson.

Hendrickson looked like he might want out of Cincy over the summer, but the Bengals finally appeased him just enough with some more money. He's still heading toward free agency, and Cincinnati has to decide how to maximize his value.

The answer very well might be to trade the guy who had 17.5 sacks in 2023 and then another 17.5 sacks in 2024.

The Colts could use him as they try to prove their fast start wasn't a fluke. Coming off a tough loss to the Steelers, Indianapolis could use the massive pick-me-up that a deal for Hendrickson would provide.

There aren't too many hours left to get it done.
