The Denver Broncos are 8-2 and are coming off a low-scoring Thursday Night Football win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Bo Nix struggled in that game, but overall, he has been a mediocre quarterback, and not one worth benching.

He has led two major comeback wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, and while he has regressed a bit in his second year, he has helped lead Denver to the top spot in the AFC West.

However, for NFL analyst Ted Nguyen of The Athletic, there's a lot left to be desired with Nix's play. Nguyen believes that the Broncos should make a ridiculous decision with Nix if his struggles continue.

NFL analyst urges Broncos to bench Bo Nix if sophomore slump continues

"Broncos would be legitimate title contenders with better QB play." Nguyen posted on Twitter/X, "If Nix continues to struggle, have to consider Stidham at some point."

Jarrett Stidham is the Denver backup quarterback, and Nguyen is calling for Nix's benching if the second-year quarterback continues to struggle.

What makes this such a ridiculous premise is that Nix isn't even struggling that badly. Through 10 weeks, Nix has 2,126 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

He's taken only 10 sacks this season, a combination of great offensive line play and Nix's ability to escape would-be sacks. That's not an ability that Stidham has, so if Denver made this switch, the sack numbers could tick up a bit.

On the season, Nix's quarterback rating is 54.9, ranked 18th in the NFL. His 85.6 passer rating is ranked 30th among all quarterbacks this season. Nix has also struggled with deep passes, being one of the more inaccurate quarterbacks on throws down the field.

Nix hasn't been at his best this season, but his league-leading sack rate (2.78%) and four-game winning drives are reason enough to be optimistic that Nix can fix some of the issues he's had this season.

Nguyen calling for the Broncos to bench their 12th overall pick from a year ago amid one of the team's best seasons since the Super Bowl season is a ridiculous call to make.

While Nix needs to improve, it's not to the point where he should be benched. He's in just his second NFL season, and there's still time to improve.

Benching Nix would be disastrous for not just his long-term development, but also would hurt any chance of the team winning this season.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side, and for the Broncos, Nix is by far their best option at quarterback. Nix is the Broncos quarterback, and benching him, even if he struggles more than he has, would put a halt to any Super Bowl aspirations for this team.
