What did the Bengals get in return for Logan Wilson? Full trade details on deal with Cowboys image

The Cincinnati Bengals, after their brutal Week 9 loss to the Chicago Bears, fell to 3-6 and became clear sellers at the NFL trade deadline. After trading for Joe Flacco to try and keep the season alive, a 1-3 record has the Bengals on the outside looking in.

With the Pittsburgh Steelers' multi-game lead and the Baltimore Ravens turning things around amid the return of Lamar Jackson, the Bengals became a team that needs to sell at the deadline.

As Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports, the morning of deadline day, the Bengals made their first move. Cincinnati is sending Logan Wilson to the Dallas Cowboys, as Jerry Jones lands a linebacker for a struggling defense. But what did the Bengals get for Wilson in this trade?

What did the Bengals get in return from the Cowboys for Logan Wilson?

According to Rapoport, the Cowboys are sending a seventh-rounder to the Bengals for Wilson. The pick is from the 2026 NFL Draft, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Earlier in the year, Wilson requested a trade. Cincinnati obliged, and the linebacker is now heading to Dallas.

The big contract for Wilson, combined with his lack of playing time and his struggles this season, led the Bengals to not have a robust market for their former star linebacker.

The Bengals veteran linebacker signed a four-year, $36 million rookie extension through the 2027 NFL season. The 29-year-old has two and a half years on his deal left, with cap hits of $2.89 million in 2025, $6.55 million in 2026, and $7.21 million in 2027.

But if the rest of the 2025 season doesn't work out for Wilson and the Cowboys, then Dallas can get out of Wilson's deal at the end of the season.

Wilson has struggled this season. He has four passes defended, one fumble recovery, 46 tackles, and no tackles for loss. In pass coverage, he's allowed a passer rating of 139.0, the highest of his career so far.

He was once one of the better linebackers in the NFL. From 2020 to 2023, Wilson had 11 interceptions, 20 passes defended, four forced fumbles, 5.5 sacks, 391 tackles, and 17 tackles for loss.

While he didn't make any Pro Bowls or earn any accolades during this time, Wilson had two seasons with four interceptions, and also had at least 100 tackles in four straight seasons from 2021 until 2024.

But this season, as seen by his benching, he's struggled to play at such a high level for a Bengals defense that's been the worst in the NFL this season.

Wilson will now head to Dallas to join another defense that's struggled a lot this season. The Bengals' first deadline day move is to part ways with their former standout linebacker, as a potentially busy day begins for the Bengals early Tuesday morning.
