The Buffalo Bills' roster may be lacking in certain areas.

But it'd be way worse if not for a shrewd offseason signing.

The Bills landed Joey Bosa with a one-year, $12.6 million contract, and it's worked out brilliantly.

Bosa leads the NFL in pressure rate at 16.5%.

"The need was clear for Buffalo: Get to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes," writes ESPN's Aaron Schatz. "And so this offseason, the Bills took a shot with Bosa. He was coming off a Pro Bowl season in 2024 for the Chargers but played only 28 games over the three previous seasons due to injuries. Would he be able to bring the improved pass rush that the Bills needed? So far, the answer is yes."

Bosa had just a 7.6% pressure rate last season for the Chargers. That could point to impending regression, or it could simply point to a motivated Bosa doing his best to make a strong impression for a new team.

The biggest concern around Bosa in recent years has been his health. He was a bit dinged up over the summer, but he's been good so far during the regular season.

The Bills really can't afford a Bosa injury. Their defensive line depth is already crushed by injuries this season, and Buffalo didn't do anything at the trade deadline to address it.

For the Bills to have any shot against the AFC's other top QBs in a playoff game, they'll need to get into the backfield.

Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa are capable, too, but it's been the veteran Bosa setting the tone. If he keeps doing that, Buffalo will have a chance.
