Texas A&M star quarterback Marcel Reed opens up about the possibility of leaving for a bigger NIL offer image

Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed ended any speculation about his future Monday, reaffirming his commitment to the Aggies and dismissing the idea he might bolt for another College Football Playoff contender in search of a lucrative NIL deal.

“I’m coming back,” Reed said on Robert Griffin III’s “Outta Pocket” podcast. “I’ll be back.”

Reed has thrown for 2,932 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while leading Texas A&M to its first-ever CFP berth. Some scouts considered him early NFL draft candidate. But the NIL era keeps the sport competitive.

Co-host Grete Griffin asked Reed directly whether he would consider a hypothetical $4 million offer from Miami. Reed laughed and said he would “have to talk to my parents,” before making clear his allegiance remains in College Station.

“I don’t think there’s any reason I need to leave Texas A&M,” Reed said. “I have the job and it’s mine to lose."

Reed went on to acknowledged the 12th Man atmosphere. "We have the best stadium, the best college town. There’s no need for me to leave.”

He also joked about his own earnings, noting he no longer lives in a dorm but in a four-bedroom house. A pretty good upgrade with all things considered.

Reed and the Aggies face Miami at home in the opening round of the College Football Playoff on Dec. 20 at Noon ET (ABC on Fubo).
