Is Jeremiah Smith playing today? Ohio State Buckeyes WR injury updates make Michigan status pretty clear image

TL;DR

  • Ohio State faces Michigan in Ann Arbor for The Game with playoff implications.
  • The availability of star wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate is uncertain.
  • Ohio State aims to avenge last year's loss and maintain its undefeated season.
  • Jeremiah Smith indicated he will play, but an official availability report is expected.

The Game has arrived.

Ohio State is in Ann Arbor to take on rival Michigan on Saturday. It'll be the standard 12 noon kickoff, and there's a lot on the line. The outcome could also depend on the injury status of star wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate.

OSU would certainly prefer them both to be healthy.

Michigan has taken the last four matchups, notably securing a completely surprising upset victory in 2024.

Last year, Ryan Day's team bounced back and went on to secure the national championship, yet for a significant portion of the supporters, the defeat against Michigan remains a profound letdown.

On Saturday, Ohio State has an opportunity to alter that perception and maintain its undefeated status. A victory for OSU would also prevent Michigan from entering the College Football Playoff.

Whether or not the superstar Smith plays could matter greatly.

Will Jeremiah Smith be in the lineup today?

All signs point to Smith playing on Saturday for Ohio State at Michigan.

There is still a bit of mystery involved, too.

The second-year star wide receiver appeared on a podcast earlier this week and stated he would be "good to go" for The Game.

Then on Wednesday, head coach Ryan Day told reporters that all of his players had been at practice.

Day's comments appeared to also signal positive news for Tate and another injured player, Lorenzo Styles.

But there hasn't been any major update since midweek, so nothing is for sure.

The availability report, scheduled for a 10 a.m. ET update, is expected to provide a definitive answer.
