This isn't a path you see traveled all that often.
But on Saturday, a former Ohio State Buckeyes football coach was announced as a new member of the Michigan Wolverines' football staff under Sherrone Moore.
The guy on the move: Kerry Coombs.
Coombs was the Ohio State defensive coordinator in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. While there, the Buckeyes won a Big Ten title and made the national championship game. He had also coached for the Buckeyes from 2012 through 2017, when they won a national title.
Coombs most recently spent three seasons as the special teams coordinator and cornerbacks coach at the University of Cincinnati.
He has been hired by Michigan to be their special teams coordinator.
"Coach Kerry Coombs is a proven, exceptional football coach, and we're thrilled to welcome him to our program," Moore said in a release. "Kerry's leadership of our special teams will be invaluable. His expertise in teaching and mentoring has consistently shaped both outstanding athletes and remarkable young men --including some of the nation's top special teams players and cornerbacks. We're proud to have Kerry, Holly, and their family join the Michigan Football family."

Michigan says that Coombs has 42 years of coaching experience between high school, college and the NFL.
Coombs is originally from Colerain, Ohio. He played college football at the University of Dayton, winning a D-III national championship in 1980.
