Bill Belichick’s first foray into college football coaching has not gone as expected. The coach that was expected to kick the door in on college football has experienced tough sledding all season with a schedule that only had one ranked team.
The program that was once touted as the 33rd NFL franchise after Belichick’s arrival has seen its fair share of losses. They have seen two different losing streaks in this season. Belichick’s team hopes to break the most recent two game losing streak when they face in state rival NC State this week.
In addition to improving their 4-7 record, the Tar Heelswill attempt to break another streak. Going winless against NC State in the last four meetings. UNC has not defeated the Wolfpack since 2020 when former Broncos and current Cowboys running back scored three touchdowns and North Carolina won in dominant fashion.
According to Yahoo Sports, the NFL is no stranger to rivalries. Considering Belichick’s time in the NFL, taking a rival seriously should not be new information to the long time Patriots coach. After North Carolina’s bowl eliminating loss to Duke, the head coach was asked about the NC State rivalry.
“I’m not, like, real smart,” Belichick said. ‘But I’ve learned that pretty quick. I understand the rivalry.”

NC State still has post season aspirations with their 6-5 record. Extending their dominant streak over UNC will also be a motivating factor. North Carolina will take on NC State at 7:30pm ET and will broadcast on the ACC Network.
