Nick Saban wasn't the first to know about UConn coach Jim Mora moving on to Colorado State, but he had some strong opinions about it. L
Saban reacted in real time on Wednesday’s The Pat McAfee Show and made it clear the hire, while great for the Rams and raised serious questions about timing.
“No, I had not heard that,” Saban said during about Mora. “But I don’t know why he would do such a thing.”
Did you hear about Jim Mora going to Colorado State..

I think Jim Mora is a very good football coach and that's great for Colorado State" ~ Coach Saban #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/FofazUEvYj
McAfee shared the same reaction to Mora’s decision. Saban’s reaction centered on why Mora would leave a surging program with potential for a rebuilding project in Fort Collins. Even with Colorado State moving to the Pac-12, the lower-tier job is still a stepping stone for most.
Under Mora, the Huskies produced back-to-back nine-win campaigns. He also coached the school's first Biletnikoff finalist Skyler Bell. What make this even more questionable is Mora's background as an NFL coach to now reinventing the wheel, so to speak.
“I like Jim Mora. I think he’s a really good coach,” Saban said. “It’s great for Colorado State, I think not so good for UConn.”
Saban’s disagreement wasn’t about ability. It was about legacy for a coach who should be entertaining a Power Four job.
