Mason Heintschel has been a revelation this season for the Pittsburgh Panthers.
They didn't necessarily expect to start the true freshman from Oregon Clay (OH) High School.
But when Pitt put Heintschel into the lineup, he began chucking the ball all over the yard in a way that meant he had to keep getting the call the rest of the season.
That includes Saturday against Miami, except Heintschel left the game just before halftime.
Mason Heintschel injury update
Heintschel grabbed at his right leg after a play late in the second quarter.
He appeared to get twisted on a sack.
Pitt ran one offensive play without Heintschel on the field.
It remains to be seen what will happen when the Panthers come back out of the locker room.
Heintschel was sacked four times in the first half.
Despite that, he was 12-for-16 for 131 yards and a touchdown.
Miami held a 17-7 halftime lead.
