Jameis Winston takes a swipe at FSU Football over lack of consistency image

The Florida State football program got taken down by one of its most famous alumni Monday night. In a moment of celebration for another Seminoles program, Jabbo Win didn't hold back.

Following FSU soccer’s 1-0 victory over Stanford to secure the program’s fifth national championship, former Seminoles quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston posted a congratulatory message on social media.

But he slipped in a playful jab, calling the soccer team the university’s “best football team” and noting they have been “consistently” so.

Given the soccer program’s dominance, Winston’s remark wasn’t far off. Since 2014, FSU has claimed five national titles, reached eight College Cups and made 26 straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

They have also captured five consecutive ACC Tournament crowns, which puts them as one of the premier programs in college athletics right now.

The comparison comes at a tough time for Florida State football, not futbol. Mike Norvell's team went 5-7 this season and missed a bowl game for the second consecutive year. However, the Noles could've taking a spot in the Birmingham Bowl to fill-in, but opted not to.

Winston likely takes this personal considering the program hasn’t won a national championship since he led the Seminoles to a title in 2013.

Despite recent struggles, FSU retained Norvell for 2026. For now, though, Tallahassee can revel in soccer’s sustained excellence.
