The SEC title game has played host to some of college football's finest matches. From Peyton Manning's masterclass in the 1997 conference title game to contemporary classics like Alabama-Georgia in 2020, fireworks tend to erupt when the SEC's two best teams lock horns.
That isn't always the case, though. Sometimes, the conference serves up dour affairs, marked not by competitiveness but by the lopsided nature of the score lines.

What is the biggest blowout in SEC championship history?

The largest margin of victory in an SEC title game is 39. The mark was set by Auburn, who downed South Carolina, 56-17 in the 2010 iteration of the competition. Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton accounted for six touchdowns (four passing, two rushing) and nearly 400 yards of offense.

Biggest blowouts in SEC championship history
The Tigers' victory over the Gamecocks in the 2010 SEC championship game proved something of a preview. One month later, Auburn captured its ninth national championship.
The matchup has also lingered in SEC lore. Auburn is one of four sides to have recorded a margin of victory of 30 or more points in the SEC title game.
